the blue stripes return in full force
In these areas, the last to be affected by the reactivation, the places delimited by the blue lines will become 25,215. As required by the new regulations there will also be white striped places, 5,721 to be precise.
This completes the plan that led to the reorganization of the Romans’ parking, after last June, to avoid a flurry of appeals from citizens following a ruling by the Lazio Regional Administrative Court, Mayor Alemanno had suspended the blue lines to reorganize them. A slower reorganization than expected, given that the situation of the blue stripes should have returned to normal in September. Instead, amidst delays and controversies, paid parking is only back today.
Change the rates. The ordinary one will be 1 euro per hour. In the limited traffic areas of the Centre, Trastevere, Testaccio and San Lorenzo, parking will cost 1 euro and 20 cents per hour.
Compared to the past, there are discounts for those who stay for a few minutes or for long hours. The former will pay 20 cents for 15 minutes of parking, while for the latter there is a rate of 4 euros for 8 hours of parking. There is also a monthly fee of 70 euros. Exempt from paying the parking fee on the blue lines are residents with a regular permit who park in their own sector, electric or hybrid cars and those displaying a disabled permit. Parking will be free on the white lines in the charge zones, but everyone must display a parking disc and can park for a maximum of 3 hours.
To communicate to citizens the news on paid parking, a postcard has been created with all the information, printed in 100 thousand copies, which will be distributed, starting today, in hospitals, Atac ticket offices, the Atac public counter in via Ostiense, and in Public Relations offices of the 19 Municipalities and above all by the traffic auxiliaries.
